It’s almost a new year and that means it’s time for my favorite thing to do: planning! Yup, I’m weird. I absolutely love goal setting and New Year Resolutions and new planners. I love reflecting on the past (you can read about my 2019 learnings here) and looking forward to the future. So let’s jump right in, shall we?
We have four main projects for 2020, but don’t worry, there will be plenty of smaller projects sprinkled in all through the year (did someone say DIY porch swing??).
Project #1: The Powder Room
Y’all. I am SO excited for this one. We have a standard powder room, which means it’s a blank slate. I just finished up the design plans for the room this week and I’ve been dreaming about how beautiful it’s going to be. I don’t want to give away the plan just yet, but I think you’re going to love it. It’s very classic and should look very expensive (hopefully without being too expensive). We’re working out a few details (aka budget) now, but once we have that squared away, we’re tackling this baby!
Above is a sneak peek of one Power Room DIY. We’re making a vanity!
The ONLY tools you need to DIY
Want to build magazine-worthy furniture and decor? The Essential Tools Roadmap will show you what tools you actually need to complete 95% of DIY furniture and home improvement projects (it’s not as many as you think!).
Project #2: The Garage
Once the Springtime hits and the weather is consistently warm, we’re going to tackle our garage. We’re still working on the plans, but epoxy floors just like Philip or Flop’s are for sure going to be in the design. Aside from that, we know we want storage for wood and a better set-up for easy DIY.
If we can figure out a way to actually fit a car in the garage, that would be nice too ?
Project #3: The Office
I need to figure out the details and the decor, but the main design of the office has been done for months now. We haven’t had the time or money to work on it because it’s going to be a big one. Between the floor-to-ceiling built-in cabinetry and a waterfall desk, I’ll be surprised if we can get it down during a One Room Challenge. But that’s the plan! It might change, but the current plan is to knock out our office space during the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge.
Project #4: Finishing the Guest Bedroom
This one might seem surprising. Yes, I’m talking about the room with the geometric wood feature wall. It’s been driving me crazy. I’ve always hated the bedframe that it’s in that room. The bed sits too high for me and it irks me every time I see it. This year we are FINALLY going to build a new bed frame for the room so it feels more together.
Aside from the bed, we still have art that needs to be hung in that room, the dresser drawers still need to be lined, and we need to add one more piece of furniture. Will it be a couch? Or a TV console? TBD. We haven’t gotten that far yet, but we know it needs something.
There you have it. 2020 will be filled with lots of crafts and furniture building, but we really want to focus on the
- powder room
- guest bedroom
Now that I’m typing it out, it sounds like a pretty full agenda! Hopefully, we can make it all happen. Which project are you most looking forward to?
