Meet The Hunts
We’re Zoe and Andrew Hunt and we’ve been DIYing together since the beginning.
Seriously, our first date was funded by selling DIY string art that we created in our college dorm rooms.
I’ve always had expensive taste and yet I’m still always shocked at how expensive everything is.
$100 for string art?! No thank you. I’ll make it myself.
What used to be a way to save money has quickly turned into one of our favorite hobbies. We went from string art and painted canvases to building tables and canopy beds. Yes, it still saves us A TON of money (our dining room table would’ve cost us $3,000 at Restoration Hardware!), but it is so much more than that. It’s so fulfilling to make your vision a reality.
Anyone can learn to DIY. You don’t need experience to create something great.
Zoe hunt
If you told me 10 years ago that we would be writing a blog on how to build furniture and design your dream house, I probably would’ve laughed at the idea. I’m not incredibly handy and I used to be terrified of all tools (hammers included). BUT look where you are. You stumbled across our little slice of the internet and now that seemingly ridiculous idea is a reality!
That goes to show that, yes, YOU can do this. You might look through our blog and wish that you could build something like this or that. Well, great news — you can! We started with no experience too. All you need is a good tutorial, the courage to create, and the persistence to keep trying until you get it right.
Every project we learn something new, so come learn with us! Don’t make excuses or save a picture as an “idea for later”. You have to start somewhere, so let’s grab some tools and start DIYing together!
A little about Zoe + Andrew (and Poppy)
Let’s start with the most important member of the team: Poppy! Poppy is our sweet little dalmatian puppy. She loves all power tools and is always sniffing around on the job.
Andrew learned early on from his dad that there are few things around the house you can’t fix yourself. He spends his days as a Market Research Manager. His analytical brain is great for DIY–he’s always searching for ways to optimize and improve our projects.
Zoe has always loved all things home and design. She spent the majority of her childhood playing “Trading Spaces” with her Barbies–renovating their house time and time again. It’s fitting that she’s now a licensed real estate broker and works on plenty of design projects on the side. If it has to do with making a house a home, it’s right up her alley!
Oh, did I forget to mention that there’s nothing we love more than a homemade pizza and the Carolina Tar Heels? We can’t wait to get to know you!
