When we were working on our game room, we decided to add in a few last minute projects. Luckily, this one didn’t take too much time at all! We had a bean bag in the corner of the room that was super comfortable, but we didn’t have any place to set a drink. So we grabbed a wood round from our wedding centerpieces and repurposed it into a simple side table!
Let’s start DIYing!

What You’ll Need
DIY Tree Slice Side Table with Hairpin Legs
Wish you could build magazine-worthy furniture and decor without a workshop full of expensive tools? Get the Essential Tools Roadmap and find out which tools are essential to DIY and which 3 tools you should start with.
Step 1: pick a side
Decide which side of the wood round you want to be the top of your table. Place the top face down.
Step 2: position your hairpin legs
You want the brackets to form as close to a triangle as possible.
Step 3: screw the legs in
Step 4: seal the top
Seal the top of your table with urethane. We used 4 coats so that the table would be water-resistant. We just sealed the top and didn’t seal the sides. If you apply urethane too heavy, it will dry white. We didn’t want to worry about getting urethane stuck in the bark and having it dry white.
Once your urethane is dry, you’re ready to use! We assembled this table in less than 120 seconds, but the time commitment really comes from properly applying the urethane and waiting between coats. Aside from the waiting time, this is the easier DIY side table!
As always, we would LOVE to see your photos. Send us a picture of your natural edge side table on Instagram and feel free to reach out with any questions!
